No figure in human history has provoked more debate, inspired more change, or divided history itself like Jesus of Nazareth. But the crucial question remains the one Jesus asked His own disciples: "Whom say ye that I am?" (Matthew 16:15).
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." — John 14:6, KJV
1. Jesus Is God in the Flesh
The Bible teaches that Jesus is not merely a good moral teacher, a prophet, or a holy man. He is the eternal Son of God—God manifest in the flesh. John 1:1 declares, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," and verse 14 adds, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us." Jesus possesses all the attributes of God because He is God.
2. Why Jesus Came: The Crucifixion
Because God is holy and just, He cannot ignore sin. Every human being has sinned and fallen short of His glory, earning the penalty of spiritual death. Jesus, who was completely without sin, came to earth to pay that penalty on our behalf. On the cross, He bore the wrath of God for our sins. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
3. The Resurrection: Victory Over Death
Jesus did not remain in the grave. Three days after His crucifixion, He rose physically from the dead, proving His victory over sin and death. His resurrection guarantees that anyone who trusts in Him will also be raised to eternal life. He is alive today, standing as our advocate before the Father.
How You Can Know Him
Knowing Jesus is not about joining a religion; it is about entering into a personal relationship with the living Savior. Salvation is a free gift received by faith. If you recognize your need for forgiveness, you can call on Him today: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). Turn from your sin, place your trust in His finished work on the cross, and receive His eternal grace.
