The Bread We Ask For
I was at the kitchen table, flour dusting my knees. Morning light spilled through the window, and my child asked for a cookie. No one can eat without first saying grace.
Jesus taught us to ask for daily bread and forgiveness in the same breath. His words bind the two together like salt on a loaf. Forgiving those who have wronged us opens the door for our own pardon.
"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."— Matthew 6:12, KJV
A Heart Made Soft
A cracked mug sat on the shelf, its pieces scattered like my bruised pride. Picking them up reminded me that forgiveness mends what sin breaks. Ephesians urges us to be tenderhearted, forgiving as Christ forgave us.
Start by naming the offense, then speak a simple prayer of release. Repeat that prayer each day until bitterness fades like steam from a kettle.
"Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."— Ephesians 4:32, KJV
When you repeat forgiveness, the world around you softens. Each time you let go, you step into the light that Christ promised to those who obey. Let this practice shape your walk, and you’ll hear the Father’s voice saying, ‘Well done.’ Keep asking, keep forgiving, and keep trusting.
