Grace Notes Ministries — Our Story

He Prunes the Ones He Loves.
We Just Don't Always Know It Yet.

A prophetic word. Six years. A surrender that changed everything. This is why Grace Notes Ministries exists.

(If your first thought was “He must not love me then” — keep reading. That’s exactly who this was written for.)

“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”

— John 15:2 (NKJV)

This ministry did not begin in a moment of spiritual clarity. It began after God did what God does when He has something He wants built — He prepared the builder. Not by making things easier. By making things honest.

That is the nature of grace. It doesn’t wait for you at your best. It finds you exactly where you are — and it doesn’t leave you there.

Pruning is not punishment. It is the most intimate act of care a branch can receive. It means the Vinedresser has looked at what is growing and made a decision: this one is worth the work. This one can still produce fruit. Let me remove what is holding it back.

Hold the Manna — or Hold the One Who Gives It

There is a story in Exodus that changes the way you understand what God is actually after.

Every morning in the wilderness, God provided manna — bread from heaven, already on the ground. All Israel had to do was gather what they needed for the day. But He gave them one instruction: don’t store it. Don’t build a stockpile. Trust that I will be here tomorrow.

The ones who tried to hold onto it — to secure it, to stop needing — woke up to rot and worms.

He wasn’t withholding. He was teaching. Don’t hold the manna. Hold the One who gives it. The provision was never the point. The relationship was the point. The daily returning to Him — the morning trust, the turning back — that was what He was after the whole time.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

— Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV)

That is the pivot this ministry was built on. Not a plan. Not a program. Five words, prayed the same way Jesus prayed them in the garden when the weight of the world was on Him:

Thy will be done.

Not mine. Not what was planned or feared or lost.
Yours.

When that becomes the real answer — not a religious answer, but actual surrender — everything that was meant to grow begins to grow.

Born Again. Not Improved. Born Again.

This ministry exists to carry one message, plainly, as far as it can go:

You must be born again.

Not cleaned up. Not reformed. Not try-harder-this-time.
Born again.

And understand who said that. Not a preacher. Not a theologian. Not a church doctrine or a denomination’s position paper. Jesus said it. Out of His own mouth. To a man named Nicodemus — a Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews, a man of education, position, and religious standing. A man who had followed the law his entire life. And Jesus looked at him and told him plainly:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

— John 3:3 (NKJV) · The Words of Jesus Christ

Jesus didn’t soften it. He didn’t offer an alternative path for people who had already done enough religious work. He said it plain, and then He said it again:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’”

— John 3:5-7 (NKJV) · The Words of Jesus Christ

Do not marvel. He anticipated the confusion. He knew the natural mind would struggle with it. And His answer to the struggle was not to lower the requirement — it was to explain the Source. This is not accomplished by human effort. It is the work of the Spirit. You do not produce it. You receive it.

The comics, the devotionals, the AI you can talk to at 3am, the phone line — all of it exists to point one person at a time to that moment. The moment they stop trying to manage their own life and give it to the One who made it.

When the Spirit Sends Someone — The Word That Started Everything

Bernard — the real man behind the character at the center of these comic strips — had a habit of following the leading of the Holy Spirit. When he felt moved to take someone to Signal of Light Full Gospel Church in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, he went. He couldn’t always explain it. He just knew. He had seen it before: you walk in, the Spirit moves, and something reaches someone who needed it in a way nothing else could.

He brought the founder of this ministry there one night. It was not expected. It would not have happened any other way. Signal of Light is a small Black full-gospel church — Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, the kind of place that preaches Jesus as Christ and Savior without apology, where the gifts of the Spirit are expected and practiced.

A Sister in the congregation felt the Holy Spirit move her. She walked across the room, tapped him on the shoulder, put her hand on his heart, and looked him straight in the eyes. She had a message from the Holy Spirit — and she delivered it.

“Son, I have a message for you.
I know you have given up on yourself.
You are going to be just fine.”

She did not know him. No one had told her anything. The Holy Spirit moved her and she delivered a word directly into the place that needed it most.

It would take six more years for that word to fully prove itself true. Six years of the Vinedresser doing His work — pruning, preparing, redirecting. Six years of manna provided one morning at a time. And on the other side of those six years: this ministry. This mission. This calling.

That is the prophetic gift operating exactly as Ephesians 4 describes. It was also at Signal of Light where Pastor Cooper — now with the Lord — first taught the Five-Fold Ministry framework that shapes the calling of this mission today.

If you are reading this and you feel like you have given up on yourself —

that is exactly why this exists. A Sister you don’t know walked across a room to deliver a word that was meant for you. The word is still true. The Spirit is still moving.

You are going to be just fine.

Nothing. Can. Separate. You. — Romans 8:38-39
